Mid Major Games to Watch Today

There are several mid major games to watch today. Obviously, the highlight is #18 Gonzaga home to #14 Memphis tonight on ESPN2. Also games of interest are Butler at Wright State, home of the Raiders and home to two of my favorite mid major coaches. #1 on my list is Wright State coach Brad Brownell and #5 on my list is Butler coach Brad Stevens. A close second in my favorite mid major coach ratings is Bob McKillop and his Davidson Wildcats are home to Charleston. Fourth in my favorite mid major coach ratings is Blaine Taylor. His ODU squad travels to Drexel to take on the Dragons for fourth place in the CAA. Remember, the top four teams in the CAA get that all important first round bye. If you are wondering who is in third place in my favorite mid major coaches, that's Jim Larranaga.

There are still even more good games. Siena, undefeated in the MAAC travels to Jersey to face third place Rider. While Butler and Wright State might get most of the publicity, the battle for second place in the Horizon, the rematch between UW Milwaukee and UW Green Bay. This game is on the Phoenix' home court. The first game saw Green Bay win at Milwaukee in overtime. And finally, after getting on my soapbox earlier in the week, the Sun Belt actually has a televised game on ESPN2. It features the two teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, Western Kentucky, who has the best record in the Sun Belt at 10-2 (14-7 overall), home to South Alabama.

Shortly, it's off to Hofstra. Enjoy the Bball!
