Charleston Almost Gets the Upset

Last night, I got home from my meeting to turn on ESPNU to watch some hoops.  Charleston did their darnedest to put a dent into the 2K Classic "Tournament".   The Cougars led most of the second half at Maryland, thanks to Andrew Goudelock channeling Stephen Curry (10 of  18 from the field, 5 of 9 from three, 27 points, 10 rebounds).  CofC was desperately trying to hold on despite not scoring  a field goal over the last eight minutes and forty one seconds of the game when Goudelock hit a floater in the lane to put the Cougars up 68-60.

But the Terrapins rallied back, due in large part to the Cougars having six of their twenty two turnovers come during that 8:41 stretch.   Maryland nearly counteracted CofC's lack of ballhandling by shooting 5 of 18 from the free throw line.  But Pe'shon Howard's jumper with five seconds left lifted the Terrapins to the win.

So much for a RLU.
